This week is stuffed full of errands, phone calls, and good-byes as Husband departs this week for half a year, so I'm afraid I don't have a lot to report on here. Truth is, it'll seem as though he's away for a short work trip for the first couple of weeks; the more emotional realization of our separation won't be felt til week three or so. Sounds strange, but I guess we've been on this path quite a few times, so it is what it is, you know? I promise I'll stop with the pity-party on here, but it's the most relevant event going on in my life, and I thought it'd be somewhat remiss if I didn't mention it. I'm fairly certain he'll be able to Skype with us, so finding the right pocket of time (with the significant time zone difference) will hopefully be the biggest challenge in future communication.
What else is going on? Aside from the to-dos mentioned above, we've been trying to maintain a normal routine. I really enjoyed watching Argo. We baked two loaves of banana bread and ate both of them in 2 days. I ordered this skirt for a spouses' function (don't even ask my how many events/fundraisers/dinners I go to for Husband's work...it's a career on its own). I think it'll go with a lot. I still haven't decided between this and this. Husband will hopefully be getting some really great news tomorrow morning. Will keep you apprised of it later. I think he packed his orange Mexican wedding shirt. Sigh.
Cute outfit! Seriously, so cute. So sorry to hear about your hubs! I don't know how you do it. You're seriously a trooper.

Thank you! We're sort of used to it, but it is an adjustment every time.
DeleteI can't even begin to imagine how it would be to have my husband gone for so long. WHICH IS WHY YOU WILL BE COMING TO VISIT, RIGHT???? YES.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how the banana skirt turns out. It's super cute on the model and I love the color but I google imaged it and saw some girls wearing it and it didn't look as good as it did on the model. I do need some colorful solid skirts in my life.
I've been pricing tickets to Seattle, Monterey, and Maryland. WHY are they ALL over $450?? Hoping I can use some of Husband's FF miles, because I need to come see you.
DeleteAnd I am keeping my fingers crossed on the skirt. I have a feeling it's going to look too wide and too ahjumma (korean for old lady) on me.
DeleteSo sad that you'll be a part for so long... hoping that the time will fly by for you!
ReplyDeletei wanted to see argo this week but we saw les miz instead so argo is next on our list! heard from our friends it was a great movie! xoxo
It was really good, even though I knew what the historical ending was already. Dare I say it reignited my dormant crush on Ben? haha.
DeleteLove this layered look on you!
ReplyDeleteSorry about you and your honey having to be apart for so long, but distance makes the heart grow fonder, right? Plus I'm sure you guys will have opportunities to visit!
Thanks, Lisa. No, we will not be able to visit due to the nature of my husband's career, but we will be able to Skype hopefully.
Deleteoh man. I know I've said it before but let us know how we can help. I mean, if it makes you feel better to make your banana bread and send it to me, I accept ya know. Anything for a friend.
ReplyDeleteIn less sad news, I'm so jealous you ordered the Fran skirt. Let me know what you think and if it's worth at least ordering to try it. It's SO CUTE.
haha. I have not forgotten about the molasses cookie promises, so I will be sending those out by the end of the month, hopefully. Maybe I'll add some banana bread. you know, so I can not feel sad - because that may mean I would start stalking you and buying everything you own. ha! I'll let you know about the skirt. Pleats and I are frenemies, so I hope this one isn't a wash.
DeleteMy husband travels very frequently for work, but I can't imagine him being gone for so long! Add me to the list of people offering any help I can muster from Texas. You can also come visit me if it's cheaper and I'm pretty sure sending banana bread and molasses cookies to Texas is way cheaper than Seattle and Wisconsin. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteIn other, happier news, I think we should plan a snarky-but-fun bloggers meet-up in Seattle this summer. No one wants to be in Texas in the summer, and Seattle seems fun. Kimmie should plan it...
Hang in there. I know you can make it thru this.
ReplyDeleteyou are so strong - you write me anytime ok!
ReplyDeletethis is an adorable outfit. that pinterest thingy is so cool! wish i was this resourceful!! xox P
