Thanks to a very healthy month of successful resales via Poshmark, a tiny portion of our tax refund in payment for my unofficial status as household tax figure-outer, and my usual monthly funds for clothing, I have been able to cross quite a few items off my shopping list lately, including this, this (both popbacks marked 65% off with a promo code), and this. I tried to stick with purchasing yearned-for bigger ticket items, but I also caved in to a handful of smaller purchases (mentioned here). I've also really been trying to stick to my Spring Shopping List, but dang it if new items don't mysteriously creep their way on my list. I'm not an emotional shopper, but I do suspect that Husband's impending departure may have something to do with my increased online shopping traffic as of late. Just a little though. I have a comfortable chunk of funds left, and I'll be hoarding it either for one big buy or for using only after careful assessment of what my closet would benefit from or need replaced this upcoming spring/summer.
Amongst those items needing replacement is a military/utility/field jacket. I have a Gap one that I've worn many times since purchasing early last year, but it's more of a functional style than fashionable, and the elastic at the wrists make it hard to roll or push back the sleeves on my arms. Despite the overwhelming options available on the web, they've either been too expensive, too short on my torso, too shapeless, too green, not green enough, blah, blah, blah. Imagine my grin when I read Sydney's blog post on her recent Old Navy trip; she included a review on a jacket that fit exactly the specifications I was seeking: longer, slimmer, olive, and not too thick. I hopped online tonight to check it out, and I thought I'd include it as well as some other new arrivals that caught my eye for spring.

Old Navy Long Canvas Field Jacket
Ordered this to try...wish the Tall size came in a XS/S but it looks like they don't carry it in that combo or they've sold out.

Graphic Crew Sweater (several idioms available)
I think I may be aged out of this - maybe? probably? (Cue the onset of being glum about my 30's) - but it's an affordable option for some of the far pricier ones out there.

Boyfriend Skinny Khakis (several colors available)
These remind me of the Gap's higher priced version. I'd recommend trying these on in-store, as ON bottoms tend to vary wildly in size.

Sleeveless Buttoned Chiffon Top
I have a weird complex about sleeveless tops these days, so I'd layer this under something with sleeves, but my sister recently sent me this Prabal Gurung x Target top, so I'll be passing on this. Very pretty though.

L:Printed-Chiffon Blouse
R: Eyelet-Pocket Top
I included these as a set since the colors are so similar, and both are cheerful options for spring.

Faux-Leather Crossfront Sandals
Is it just me, or is it really difficult to find plain, dark navy sandals? I mean, I don't have a single pair, despite my hunt for the past two summers. Nothing under $100 anyway. I'll be inspecting these in person soon and if the faux doesn't look too bad, I'll be shortlisting these for a sale purchase, since I won't be able to even wear them til late April here. In the meantime, I'll be seeking for an all-leather pair.

Color-Blocked Canvas Tote (other colors available)
Not a need for me, but this would be just the thing to tuck beach/pool/vacation/park items in for a sunny weekend jaunt. Unfortunately for me, I usually need to heft along a POD-like apparatus for the various sundries Baby Warrior and company require for an outing.
Floral-Gauze Scarf
I've been earnestly trying to work in more scarves into my outfits instead of always forgetting to add one, not to mention it's been frickin' cold lately, and my neck appreciates the extra layer of warmth. This one obviously is not meant for really wintery pairings, but the pattern caught my eye and for $12 after the promo, my spring scarf want can be crossed off my list. You know, the growing, invisible, and sneaky one that runs parallel to my accountable blogged about one.
Do you have any "must buy" items on your list, I'd love to hear!

love all your finds! This morning at Target they were just putting out the sandals. I will have to check back!!
ReplyDeletePeggy, I can totally see you in the eyelet top!
DeleteI saw the shoes in person and they're actually pretty cute! I definitely want a pair but we still have like 6 feet of snow on the ground so I will be waiting. I purchased the khaki pants in olive in a tall online just now during their $19 sale. I tried them on in store but the regular was too short on me. I think I'm going to have to sew in little snap buttons as the pockets are kind of strange, but otherwise I liked them.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I'm going to grab them when they get marked down AND add a promo since I can't wear them for a while. I like the skinny khakis too & may try on a pair when I go return my order next week.
DeletePlease don't forget to post if you do come across a similar pair of leather sandals! I saw the O.N. version in store and while I loved the shape, I thought the (p)leather(?) looked too cheap. I am having the hardest time trying to find a pair of sandals like that, though. So if you come across them will you please share the wealth!
ReplyDeleteHave you checked out the Lands End Tracy sandals or Saltwater sandals? They're pretty similar. I think I'm going to order a pair of Lotta From Stockholm navy clog sandals - they're 2-2.5 inch heels, so it may kill two birds with one stone. They're pricier but the quality is supposed to be great. Eygptomaniac the Shopping Maniac has several and did a review on them a while back. Hope this helps!
DeletePS. And the Madewell Crisscross Boardwalk sandal - I think those are a great dupe! :)
