After a fantastic visit to Michigan this past weekend, we rolled back home yesterday afternoon. Baby Warrior was unfortunately not feeling well the whole time, but he managed to squeeze in some cookie baking, hot cocoa slurping, Macgyver hockey, and art time with his grandparents and uncle/aunt. I'm really fortunate to have married into a warm and wonderful family, and our visits never seem to be long enough. After having hosted my family for two separate visits in January, and flying to Michigan this past weekend, I'm a bit relieved to be returning to a normal routine for a little while until Husband departs for foreign lands. Not that my daily life is all that exciting, but I am addicted to a scheduled life and rely on it for stability and centeredness. Gawd, I'm old.
One thing my mother in law gifted me with this weekend is Husband's paternal grandma's molasses cookie recipe, of which we ate a triple batch during our visit. His grandma is still going strong at 90+ years old in Texas, but I'm glad I don't have to trouble her frail hands with writing out the recipe for me, so I'll be posting the how-to soon. They are seriously so delicious, and I am thrilled to add a longtime family recipe to my repertoire.
Off to do some catching up on blogs and relax before we dive into school, birthday parties and such this week. How do you regroup after a whirlwind of being on the go?
it's always fun to travel, but always great to get home. no place like home! Sorry your little guy is under the weather. He sure is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peggy! I meant to email you to see if you had any Prabal x Target on your radar. Sister had to mail me a top from GA since it was sold out here.
DeleteMmm. I bet that cookie recipe is amazing. :) What a great bit of family history to have, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the Talitha blouse on you in the feather paisley print. How pretty!
Hi there! Can you believe this is the first time I pulled out this blouse since I bought it?! Yikes.
DeleteI have been following you for a long while, but my iPad doesn't allow for disqus commenting on most blogs! :(
glad you had a great trip
ReplyDeleteThank you! Did you get a lot of snow in your area? My in-laws got 6 inches!
DeleteMolasses cookie recipe?!! OMG YUM. I hope you post it soon, or at least send me a box because I'm drooling right now. Glad you guys had a good time in Michigan despite the little guy being sick!
ReplyDeleteI love that pretty paisley blouse with the yellow cardigan! That sounds like a fun weekend. I'm the same way though--I need routines and schedules :)
