I completely grabbed the first thing I eyed in my closet today when getting dressed, as my body goes into full out riot mode when forced to wake up earlier than normal, and I can't quite believe that I actually defeated the inner me screaming & jeering at me to drive Husband to the airport in pajamas and slippers. Nothing too adventurous, as you can see, but at least I had just enough a.m. gumption to sling a necklace on myself. Small victories.
So, I've been formulating a list of spring wardrobe needs & wants. Very little in the "need" department, since I just ordered a few springy items, thanks to forcing myself to sell a stack of items I've been hanging onto without wearing enough. Here are a few things both ordered and currently on my "want list":
Sole Society Kelly Wedges in Leopard and Adobe: my trusty leopard wedges finally gasped its last breath back in November, so this is the replacement pair. I can't mosey around in heels all day anymore, so wedges are my go-to shoes when I want some height, which I consider 5'11, ha. These were each $25 off with a promo code, making these $35 and $25. Click HERE for $25 off your first purchase, and I will review these upon delivery. I ordered these a few days before Kendi featured them on her blog, so the Adobe colorway is sold out in smaller sizes.
Sole Society Carlee: on my want list, these are a similar interpretation of the Ferragamo Varina flats, but about $400 less. I'm going to wait and see how the Kelly wedges fit and look IRL.
Navy Crossbody: On my want list. Navy may be a tad dark for spring, but I'd wear it with lighter tops, sweaters, bottoms. It doesn't really feel like spring here until late May, really, so I would still need to layer with darker hues mixed into my outfits.
Update: I forgot I have a small navy crossbody from Zara kids. It's a bit small to be practical, but I will be holding off on this item for now.
New Sunglasses: I tend to give in when I see unique frames or styles, as I am all stocked on the more traditional styles in tortoise, black, brown, aviators, wayfarers. Due to my wider face shape and low nose bridge, as well as the fierce sun that beats down in Colorado altitudes, I usually invest heavily into pricier sunglasses. Prada fits really well for wider face
shapes, Versace tends to run narrower, and certain Ray Bans also work well. I usually head to Sunglass Hut for new pairs, but the Saks outlets always have a variety of designer shades marked down 30-80% off.
PURCHASED Print Blouses: I'm ready for bright and cheerful print blouses, and J. Crew, Forever 21, and H&M are where I'll be looking for these. Some prints can be quite trendy, so I usually don't spend a lot on new ones for spring.
PURCHASED White Bootcut Jeans I'd like to add a Bootcut style to my stash of white skinnies and trousers. Being from the South, white is my most worn bottoms color when I wear longer lengths in the spring, and I'd like a pair with some flare to style with wedges.
PURCHASED Print Skirts: After Lilly posted this chevron skirt on Facebook, I checked it out online. It's $19.99 in store and online, and I think this will transition well into spring and summer. Sizing seems to run fairly large for a juniors label, and sizes 2-6 all seem to fit into the Small. My sister is sewing a few print skirts for me, so I won't be buying more for now.
Update: purchased then returned due to static cling issues. Ordered 2 J. Crew Factory print skirts that I'm hoping will work out instead.
That's what's lingering on my list so far. The weather transitions from frigid to searing hot rather quickly here, so I'll be looking for pieces that can be worn well into the summer after our hasty spring season.
