My dad is the kind of person who always, always seems to know someone from somewhere, everywhere and every time. Growing up, I remember when my dad would take forever to get back from an errand and sure enough, he had run into someone at the store and chatted away for half an hour. Husband used to half kid that my dad must be a mafioso because he always knows someone to take care of whatever needs taking care of in all cases. Anyways, I should have known that when Husband and I relocated to Colorado from the East coast, dad would "know a guy" or three right here in my city. His best friend from high school in Connecticut resides here, as does a person who used to work for him. My parents dragged us out tonight to meet this former work colleague for supper, so I decided to put a dab of effort into my outfit. Baby Warrior has been a snot-covered, feverish little ball of misery the past couple of days, so we took it easy today, and I honestly ignored the jeans and hoodie to jump into a skirt since I really have been slacking on le blogging. I was fairly comfortable in this, but my only regret is not trying on the skirt prior to purchasing it as final sale in-store. It runs bigger in the elastic waist than I anticipated, so I have to pretty much hitch it up to my chest area for it not to bag out. Adding to my pile of clothes to send to my excellent but pricy tailor lady, just wondering if wearing it Urkle style beats paying $25 to take in an $18 purchase.

My parents' visit is drawing to an end this weekend, as they fly out early Saturday morning, so we're planning on a farewell Japanese feast tomorrow at my favorite sushi place. I'll be seeing them again in a couple of months, as we try to plan visits here or there every 3 months, but I know I'll miss them just the same. Is it just me, or do you treasure your parents more and more as you both get older, squabbles and bickering and all?

  1. That is hilarious that your dad always knows someone. The only time I've ever been freaked out by people who know my parents is once in High School I was walking down the street in a small town across the border (in Mexico) from where I lived and some random came up to me and asked if I was Mr. XYZ's daughter. I just stared at him and he said, "You have to be! You look just like him!" and he gave me his card. Turns out he hadn't seen my dad since before I was born! How nuts is that? I totally agree that we value them more and more as we age. Now I am super proud that someone knew I was his daughter just by looking at me. Back then, I couldn't believe someone thought I looked like ANY guy much less my dad! LOL! You look great in this even if the skirt is a tad loose. I say keep it. OH! Sorry I wrote a novel!

hate to say can you belt the skirt to avoid the seamstress? that sweater has to be one of my favourites on you.

  3. I love your skirt with the sheepie sweater! and booties! And soooo funny, my dad was the exact same way growing up! He did all the errands b/c he was so social and loved talking to everyone he ran into! I would often go along as his helper and marveled at how many people he knew!
